The Weight Loss System That Never Works

I see it over and over again—middle-aged women trying to use the same system to lose weight that they did when they were in their twenties.

Eat less, exercise an outrageous amount (especially cardio).

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that system doesn’t work.

Especially for women in perimenopause or menopause.

So, why do we continue to rely on this weight loss system?

Well, first, there is some truth to it. You do have to create a caloric deficit to lose weight. But, as our bodies change in middle age, we have to go about it differently, especially because of the hormonal and lifestyle changes we experience during this stage.

Most women I see, however, are dieting in a way that’s unhealthy—they’re over-restricting and over-exercising.

The problem with this method is that your body goes into protection mode. Instead of burning fat, your body will store fat, because that’s how God designed our bodies to respond to extreme stress. Your body just wants you to survive!

Furthermore, elevated levels of stress in your body release cortisol also known as the belly fat hormone. So, you could be exercising and eating less and still not seeing the changes you want to see, especially around your midsection.

So what’s the solution?

Don’t worry, because I’m going to tell you in today’s Faith-Based Weight Loss for Women podcast. I talk about EXACTLY what you need to be doing differently to lose the weight and keep it off!
