As women, we have so many expectations about how our lives could or should be, especially in the area of how we look. Weight loss, then, often becomes a central focus for us and it’s easy to let unrealistic expectations rule our weight loss journeys.
Our expectations can be so high, in fact, that even when we’re making progress, we tend to focus on what we’re not accomplishing rather than celebrating what we ARE accomplishing.
Listen, it’s normal to be disappointed when our expectations aren’t met. Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick....” You’re not crazy for feeling frustrated. But, if your expectations for weight loss are too high, you’ll be frustrated A LOT.
The flip side of Proverbs 13:12 says, “...but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.”
I want to help you set realistic expectations for your weight loss journey so that you experience the “longing fulfilled” and that starts with setting attainable goals. Now, I know how some of you feel about setting goals—you don’t set them because you don’t want to feel like a failure if you don’t meet them.
But I’m here to tell you that if you DON’T set realistic goals, you will NOT make progress on your weight loss journey.
