Why Relying On THIS Is Sabotaging Your Weight Loss Efforts

I get it. It’s so easy to do. We all fall prey to it.

But here’s the truth: relying on it as your only guide is sabotaging your weight loss efforts.

As a reminder, the Faith-based Weight Loss for Women podcast is all about a total transformation of your mind, body, and spirit. We have to take in a number of factors into consideration beyond the food you eat and how much you exercise to see lasting results.

But the problem is we get so fixated on one thing in our weight loss journeys—the number on the scale.

Are you letting the scale be your guide?

It’s no secret that the scale holds the power to ruin your day or make you feel like you just won the lottery. We’re enmeshed in a love/hate relationship with this simplistic piece of machinery—one day you’re completely depressed over the number, the next day you eat a whole sleeve of Oreos because you’re ”celebrating” a move of the needle in the right direction.

Guess what? In both situations, you’re relying on the scale, and NOT your healthy habits to guide your actions. But the opposite should be true: your actions should lead the scale where you want it to go.

Victories that go beyond the scale

When you let the scale lead you, you often don’t see the whole picture of the progress you're making. The next time you’re tempted to get down on yourself over the number on the scale, stop and ask yourself the following questions:

  • What are your energy levels like? If you have more energy, that’s a non-scale victory!

  • Are you sleeping better? Victory!

  • Have your measurements changed? Hint: You can lose inches without losing weight.

  • Are you choosing healthy foods when you’re hungry? Another non-scale victory!

On this week’s podcast episode, I’m doing a deep dive on why we get so wrapped up in the scale and what to do about it. There’s so much more to your journey than a number.

If you’re ready to stop letting the scale control your mood and start letting your healthy habits lead the scale, this podcast is for you!
